Sustainable
development demands important changes in people's behaviour, both
at the individual and collective levels. Sustainable development
concerns personal and group decisions. From this perspective, it should
become a process we reason by and a way in which we choose to live. Thus
sustainability should be viewed as a way of acting and thinking, giving
people the ability to consider the long-term consequences of their
actions, as well as to think more widely, across issues and disciplines.
Participation, stability and responsibility are all required if
sustainable development is to be achieved.
