People's Behaviour and Sustainability

termSustainable development demands important changes in people's behaviour, both at the individual and collective levels. Sustainable development concerns personal and group decisions. From this perspective, it should become a process we reason by and a way in which we choose to live. Thus sustainability should be viewed as a way of acting and thinking, giving people the ability to consider the long-term consequences of their actions, as well as to think more widely, across issues and disciplines. Participation, stability and responsibility are all required if sustainable development is to be achieved.
